The price war between Telecom operators Reliance and Airtel began. Airtel today came up with an innovative plan which offers 3G/4G data at affordable prices.
A few days back I wrote that TRAI approved one-year validity for data packs. Airtel started using the new regulations and came with a mind-blowing plan.
What is the plan?
The new data packs come with one-year validity. Those are like call cutter top-ups. For example, you might be already familiar with Airtel Rs. 189 for three months top-up which offers call charges of 1 paisa for two seconds.
The new Airtel one-year data packs are similar to them. The new data pack charged at Rs. 1,498 which has one-year validity. Along with the pack, 1 GB 3G/4G data is priced at Rs. 57, 2 GB at Rs. 99 and 5 GB at Rs. 251.
So you have to pay Rs. 1,498 for one year, it doesn’t offer any data benefit. It is like data cutter top-up. Once, you recharged Rs. 1,498 you can recharge as per your requirements.
For example, I have monthly 10 GB requirement. So below is the calculation:
I recharge Rs. 1,498 to reduce the data charges (valid for 12 months) For one month it costs Rs. 124.80).
So as per the new tariff 5 GB costs Rs. 251, every month I need to recharge two times to get 10 GB in total.
So for 10 GB my expenditure is:
Rs. 124.80 (for top-up) + 251 + 251 = 626.8
So for Rs. 626 I will now get 10 GB of Airtel Data.
Airtel is also coming with 40 GB annual package for Rs. 3,500. If you are looking for six months data cutter plan, then you may get the same above benefits for Rs. 797. But for six months plan 1 GB costs Rs. 99, and Rs. 259 for 2 GB.
