5 Important Smartphone App Permissions That You Need To Concentrate

March 24, 2021 by Satyapriya

Giving permission to the apps is one such a thing that we do without having any second thoughts. We will be in a hurry to use the application, that we lose the concern for our safety. There are certain permissions that are so sensitive and you just cannot go ahead ignoring about these permissions. So, here we put together some such important app permissions.

If you are using Android marshmallow or the later versions of Android in your Android device, then checking these permissions and enabling and disabling them becomes pretty easy.

App permissions are something that the app will ask you to grant immediately you install the app and if you deny the permissions, the app won’t work and we tend to approve or grant the permissions as we don’t want to get into any further fuss.

Important App Permissions

Microphone

A call recording application definitely needs the microphone permission. But think twice before approving this permission to any kind of apps as allowing it may mean that the app has the right to access your microphone. Many games available on the Google Play store uses this permission to record what you are listening to watching by recording secretly and uses it to offer personalized advertisements later.

Camera

Approving an app with your camera permission is not anything you can do just like. Everyone might be knowing the after effects if we do so. So, we have to be a bit careful while approving this permission as well. If you give an app access to your camera, it can take pictures using your camera anytime. So, just be careful with this permission as well.

Location

Generally, apps like Uber, Ola, Maps ask us with this permission as they need to locate our exact location in the map. Knowing your location and the store near you, the area you live in can help the apps build a better picture of you in giving ads.

Contacts

Apps like Truecaller ask us permission to access to contacts and we approve it normally. But we should take care of it as the apps can utilize the number of our family and friends for any promotional purpose. So, just take care while you give contacts access to any permission.

SMS

SMS replacement apps may ask for accessing your messages and you will have to give them. But make sure you don’t give access to this permission just like anything if you think you have some sensitive information in your messages.

So, rather than just giving or approving app permissions blindly, just think twice as it a matter of your privacy and safety.
