The social networking giant Facebook has introduced the suicide prevention tool in India with the collaboration of AASRA, the suicide helpline organisation and Deepika Padukone’s Live Love Laugh foundation.
According to the report released by the WHO in 2014 about suicide prevention, India is found to be on the top with largest number of suicides of age between 15 and 29. To save lives and help the persons with suicidal thoughts, Facebook has started rolling out this new tool in India.
The Facebook lifeline (suicide prevention tool) is like any other Facebook support page with the list of helplines including the AASRA on the top followed by the Love Live Laugh for Indian users.
You can not only help yourself with this lifeline but also help your friends who are in the depression and suicidal thought process. You may send the helpline links to the suicider. You can report the content to Facebook if found to be self-harming and so.
Facebook is known for introducing ‘mark safe’ tools in the time of natural disasters which is helping people know about their dear ones to sigh out a relief. Thank you Facebook for caring about the people’s real troubles.
