Facebook committed to bringing new features to the network in a rapid manner. As per the one Android user’s experience, the Facebook Android client offered him a new feature in the newsfeed named “What friends are talking about”.
Newsfeed itself aggregates posts from our friends, but Facebook follows certain algorithm while presenting the items in our newsfeed. It considers various factors and displays only maximum of 1500 posts per user per day on the newsfeed. Newsfeed not only shows the content from our friends it also presents us the pages, people we started to follow.
So sometimes Facebook users are missing important posts from their relatives and close friends. So keeping this in mind Facebook is bringing the new feature. Once the feature rolled out globally, our newsfeed will look differently.
“What friends are talking about” positioned at the top of our newsfeed and if offers more engaging posts from our friends list. The whole section is limited to just an image size. So id doesn’t occupy more space in the newsfeed. Below that section regular newsfeed will follow as we are getting right now.
Whenever Facebook wants to introduce new features to its platform, initially it tests them with a limited set of people selected randomly. So if you are one of the lucky one among them you might be noticed the new feature in your newsfeed.
