A new malware named as Fortinet Android Malware steals your Bank data. The latest malware surfaced for Android platform misleads us as the Flash Player application. Once you installed the app on your Android device it gathers the username, passwords from 94 popular banking applications around the world.
The application lists as “Fortinet” in the Android application drawer. If the user launches the app, it displays a fake Google Play message requesting the user to grant permissions to run the malware with administrative rights.
The app silently runs in the background and now onwards when you opens any banking application, it overlay a fake login screen. You believe that you are entering the credentials into the original application. But your credentials will be sent to the attacker.
Not only the banking applications, but the Fortinet malware also targeting social media applications like Facebook, Whatsapp, Twitter, etc. When you opened those apps, the malware overlays a payment screen where it demands money to use the social networks.
The malware can steal the SMS One Time Passwords (OTP) to complete the fraudulent transactions. So beware of the fake apps available on the Google Play Store and the third-party app stores with the name of Flash Player.
