Google’s video calling app Duo is going to create a sensation with innovative features. Google announced the app at Google I/O 2016 recently, and now the application is rolling out across the globe.
The application is somewhat similar to Apple iOS’s Facetime app which is only available to iOS users. You no need to use Google or any other special account to use Google Duo Video calling app. Just you can register for the service with your mobile number like Whatsapp. The app treats your mobile number as your account.
How Google Duo works?
Once you register in Google Duo video calling app, it shows the other friends in your contact list to start a video conversation instantly. You must have a mobile number to use the app, and you can’t use the app on any
other device which doesn’t have a phone number.
The application primarily focussed on one to one conversation, and that’s why you are not able to make conference calls. The application works by using WebRTC protocol, the same team that developed the protocol developed the app also.
The interesting feature of the Google Duo app is “Knock Knock”. Duo available for iOS and Android, but the particular feature only available for Android users only. The feature shows the live preview of the caller while you are getting an incoming call.
Right now the application is not available to download, and you can register for the beta version, within next few hours, it will be offered for the users. Duo is the direct competitor for Whatsapp, Skype, Snapchat and other popular messaging apps available now.
