I have been creating new accounts of various websites since 2003. Up to the recent past, creating a new account in any web service takes minimum five mins time. We need to fill lengthy forms which consist First Name, Last Name, Email, Country, Age, Address and other fields. The situation has changed once Google, Facebook Sign in options came into limelight.

It may be a website, or you may download an Android app, first of all, you need to create a new account to use it.

For example, you downloaded Swiggy app to order food online, or Bookmyshow to book movie tickets, before using those apps, they ask you to sign into those apps by creating a new account or sign in with your username, password if you already had an account. Here one thing is clear; you need an account to access any service.

What is Social Media sign in?

Entering repeat our First Name, Last Name, Age, email ID is the tedious task when we are creating any new account. Keeping this in mind Google, Facebook, Twitter started providing API for the login process. By implementing those API’s app developers can make their apps trouble free while creating user accounts.

If you select Google or Facebook Sign up while creating an account in any app, you no need to enter your basic details like your first name, last name, email ID, etc. The app itself collects the primary data from Google or Facebook, which we selected to log in.

No Need to remember usernames

Before social connect era, we needed to remember our usernames also along with passwords to log into the different websites. Now this became obsolete. The social connect account which you choose to become the username for your account. Just you need to remember your password only. It made things easy for netizens who regularly explore various websites and smartphone apps.
