Facebook has recently offered some tips to its users that help them to spot fake news. Google soon followed the suite and improved its search. Now, it’s time for them as Microsoft also joined the way and the users are very soon going to see the results of this hard work in the Bing search results.
Internet these days is full of fictional content and the users may find it difficult to find the fact in it. Of course, these fake news, conspiracies, false stories were in existence even before the advent of the internet, but the situation these days is worse as the internet is being used for spreading those false words and all.
Seeing the most popular companies, Microsoft and Facebook taking a step forward in helping their users differentiate between fact and fiction, Microsoft also got motivated and is adding a new UX element to Bing search results. The fact check allows the users to get the fact checking information in the search results which allows them to know the facts without leaving the Bing.
It will add a note that will be applicable to news stories and web pages. These notes will show the users that a claim has been fact checked by an organization such as Politifact, Snopes and reveal what they have said about that claim in it, whether it is true or false.
