Sometimes while browsing the Facebook newsfeed, we may come across certain types of adult content. Facebook aggregates the content of the posts of our friends, or sometimes mature content derives from the sponsored content segment.

Now Facebook lets to stop mature content from your newsfeed by providing an option. Right now Facebook is testing the new feature with selected portions of users, if you are among one of those then you may greet with, “Remove Mature Posts From News Feed” banner message at the top of the newsfeed.

Facebook is providing three controls on the setting, and those are No Filter, Warn Only, Filter. As the name says, No Filter displays the mature photos and videos without any restrictions. When you select the Warn Only option, a small warning below the content will be displayed. And the most powerful and meaningful choice who browse Facebook with their family is “Filter”. The setting filters the Adult content from the Facebook newsfeed.

What is matured and what is clean is purely depends on the Facebook Community Standards. Facebook consider exhibiting private parts of the body is restricted. But exposing a portion of private parts is certain extent considered as the mature content.

Youtube is already offering the same setting with the name “Safety Filter” for a long time. Content creators take advantage of Facebook and YouTube community standards and creating semi-adult content. People are facing discomfort to use Facebook and Youtube with family members with the increased mature content.
