Reliance Jio is facing peculiar problem with other telecom operators like Airtel, Idea, Aircel, etc.,
Inter connection ports play a crucial role while connecting phone calls in between various networks. Every operator has to provide a certain number of ports to other operators to get phone calls from that particular network. But Reliance is not getting sufficient cooperation from other players in this regard.
As per the industry norms approx. 12,500 E1 ports needed for 22 million subscribers. But as of now, Reliance managed to get1,400 ports only. Reliance asked TRAI to look into the matter because the commercial launch of Reliance Jio is expecting soon.
On the other hand, Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) is arguing that they provided more capacity than the required capacity to Reliance. They are stating, they offered ten times more capacity compared to the present customer base of Reliance. In their opinion, the calls drop and other issues now facing by Reliance are because of the Free calls and other benefits it offered to the customers.
It seems that there is a lot of unhealthy competition accumulated in between Reliance and other operators in India. TRAI has to set norms and solve these issues in between operators, otherwise, phone users will suffer.
