How to Stop Automatic Starting of Apps on Android and Save Memory and Battery

June 23, 2016 by computerera

Are you worrying about your Android phone which have sufficient amount of RAM and powerful battery and working slow and draining fast? The reason might not be the software update or the bugs in it. It is the automatic apps that start without your consent and run in the background that slow down your phone. As the apps would be running, the battery would also be drained faster than normal.

Stop-Automatic-Starting-of-Apps-on-Android

How to stop automatic apps starting in android?

Every app that runs will depend on the system resources itself thereby showing an impact on the free memory and battery. To be frank, Android operating system doesn’t quit apps literally when closed. They will keep running in the background unless they are swiped off.

Actually, the applications that are installed will not just work on on-demand basis. Some startup automatically when the device is turned on. Take an example of the themes. Will they be running on-demand or they run automatically from startup? Glad you got my point.

Warning: Before you get to know how to stop automatic apps starting, make sure you won’t stop any Google related apps and some background services with weird names. Stopping those may affect your android phone and you may need to reinstall the OS again.

You would be using the phone as a normal user as of now. Enabling the developer mode will give your more flexibility over the customisation of the android operating system from the core.

Go to Settings > About > Quick tap 7 times on Build Number to enable the developer mode. Come back to ‘Settings‘ and you will find an extra option ‘Developer Mode‘ in the stack of settings.

Now go to Developer Options > Running Services and check all the services that are running on the device. Open the identifiable services and you will find Stop and Report options. Tap on Stop to stop the app and sometimes you may need to stop some other belonging services/apps that are running associated with that app.

The Marshmallow app has a doze feature that minimises the running services in the background. You may also go to Settings > Apps and swipe over to the Running apps and Force Stop them.

Beware of the Google must-run services and apps.

Hope this guide helped you save some RAM and battery life of your phone. Please share it to your friends too if you like this article.
