The software tools ISIS use revealed

July 23, 2016 by computerera

software tools ISIS

The software tools ISIS use revealed in a report. ISIS members always try to maintain their online anonymity by using various tools. Flashpoint well-known cybersecurity firm released a report on the tools ISIS members use to communicate each other through the internet.

To maintain operations Jihadists use various browsers such as Firefox, Google Chrome, Safari, etc. But among other browsers, their favorite one is TOR Browser, which hides IP address and other tracking details to the servers.

In the year 2008 TOR browser suddenly became more popular among Jihadists after Jihadist Deep Web forums focussed more on that particular browser.

In the same year, they developed their own encryption tool named Asrar AI-Mujahi-deen. They used to carry portable TOR browser on pen drives to browse the internet through internet cafes. Few Jihadists using Opera Browser, which has built in Free VPN service.

To mask their IP address behind the VPN jihadists started using CyberGhostVPN in the year 2014. Somebody in the Jihadi group found a privacy loophole in the CyberGhost VPN. It is just hiding the IP Address, but it doesn’t protect the Hard Disk Serial number of the computer. So they started using another additional free tool named HardDiskSerialNumberChanger to change their hard disk IDs.

For email communication Jihadis using Hushmail to encrypt the data. To automatically delete the contents of the smartphone after certain password failures they are using Locker app.

To spoofing GPS location with the fake one the are using Fake GPS Android app. And for the instant messaging Jihadists using Telegram messenger. Here you can download the complete report.

July 22, 2016 by computerera

Most of the chat apps like Whatsapp, Facebook Messenger are intended to communicate with known people. But sometimes we want to interact with complete strangers for timepass or little bit fun.

In the video demo, I introduced an innovative Android app that helps us to find complete strangers living around us through the GPS. Those visitors connect us with their nicknames. We can respond on a public circle or start a personal conversation with anybody. If something goes wrong, we can block those people also.

You may Miss important Facebook Posts with the latest change

July 1, 2016 by computerera

facebook-change

You may Miss important Facebook Posts with the latest change. Time to time Facebook tweaks its news feed algorithm to serve better stories to everyone through the news feed. A couple of days back Facebook changed the news feed algorithm again.

With the latest change, Facebook serves more stories from your Friends and Family members while scrolling through the News Feed. It sets low priority for the people whom you follow for the updates like me.

Why this change?

Facebook placed a threshold on the number of posts that can be visible to every individual on a daily basis. As per the threshold, Facebook shows only a maximum of 1500 posts per day to an average Facebook user. Keeping this in mind, Facebook tweaks the news feed algorithm time to time to serve more quality and desired posts to every Facebook user.

There may be a lot of sources that populate posting to your Facebook news feed such as posts from your friends, family members, people you follow, apps and games your friends installed, etc. But it is the responsibility of the Facebook to strip away all unimportant content and displays quality content to you while browsing the news feed.

What about people you follow?

Now with the latest Facebook tweak, posts from your friends and family members will be prioritized. You may miss important content from the people you follow. For example, 46000 followers of my FB account expect new updates from me whenever they open Facebook. I even posted an update, and there may be little chance to get it in your news feed with the latest change.

So you have a fantastic option to overcome this problem, open my profile and at the “following” button, select “Set First” to never miss my updates. Like this, you can get all the important updates from all the people you follow along with your Family and Friends.

Whatsapp SMS Authentication now became easy

June 25, 2016 by computerera

whatsapp-verification

Whatsapp SMS Authentication now became easy with the latest change. Whatsapp tweaked its SMS authentication system while setting up the account on the new phone. This tweak helps us in the following scenario.

Imagine that you two phones. One is 1234 and the second one is 5678. Consider that your primary number is 1234, but you are willing to use Whatsapp on 5678 number phone.

So in this case, if you are setting up Whatsup on 5678 phone with 1234 as the primary number, when you entered 1234 as your Whatsapp account number the account verification SMS will be delivered to the first phone and the 5678 phone right now you are using fails to auto verify the code. Alternatively, you have to wait for 3 Mins time to verify through a phone call.

The latest Whatsapp verification tweak stripes away the whole problem. Irrelevant of what number you are using right now on your phone, Whatsapp provides “verification code box” immediately along with auto verify mechanism. So just you need to enter the verification you got on your primary phone instead of waiting for Phone call verification.

This tweak will be more helpful for those who are using dual-SIM phones and maintaining two separate phones.

And you already know that Apple introduced larger emojis in iOS 10. The same larger size emojis are going to be a part of the latest Whatsapp client.

Interestingly, Whatsapp is planning to bring public Whatsapp groups in which those who have the link to the public Whatsapp group can join in that group. Till now, only your contacts have the right to add you to any Whatsapp group. With this new “Public Groups” option, it will become easier to be a part of various community based Whatsapp groups.
