Google is silently killing other mobile and desktop operating systems. When I started using touchscreen phones in 2004, Symbian was the popular mobile operating system. Once the Android 1.0 released in Sep 2008, everything has changed, and Android stood as the dominant operating system in the past decade.

Now Google Chromebook is drastically changing the desktop environment. The first time Google Chromebook outsold Apple Macs.

It is clearly indicating that the next target is Microsoft Windows desktops and laptops. As per the latest market share, Chromebooks became a second largest desktop device after Windows PCs.

The main advantages of Chromebooks are users doesn’t require any particular learning curve to adopt the device. Just you need to know how to use a web browser, and that’s enough you can use Chromebook quickly.

We are living in the Era, where all the desktop applications migrated to cloud-based applications. Now we can edit Docs, spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentations without installing MS office on the desktop with the help of Google Docs.

Not only Google Docs, there are plenty of popular desktop applications already migrated to a cloud environment. This is the major advantage for Google Chromebooks to expand its user base.

Google is bringing full pledged Android applications and games support to the Chromebooks. If it became reality, Chromebook offers more apps and Games than the quantity available for Windows users.

Still Windows can play a prominent role in the desktop environment in the near future because most of the traditional applications like Photoshop, InDesign, Adobe Premiere etc. are able to run on Windows desktop only. But the above mentioned scenario indicating that Chromebooks are going to dominate Windows desktops also in the figure.
