Gmail, the most used and highly popular email client as we all know. There are also quite a few other alternative mailing applications that give tough competition to Google in terms of email management and flexibility. The fact is that all our first email ids are actually Gmail. But there is no issue if you have decided to move from Gmail to some other email client. Then you might want to save a backup of Gmail, then here are the steps that you need to go through.

Steps To Backup Of Gmail

  • Begin by opening the web browser and head over to google.com. Make sure you are logged in into your Gmail. Now, scroll down to the Account Storage section to check how much storage is left on your Google Account.
  • Then you can click on Manage your data & personalisation option located under Privacy & personalisation.
  • After that, scroll down and click on Download your data, here you may be shown two options: export or delete. Choose export.
  • Then you will be redirected to the Google Takeout page. There, you should see a long list of Google Services from which you can download the preferred data. You can notice all the options selected by default. As we only want to back up emails, deselect all.
  • Then, scroll down to find the Mail option and then check the box for it. And click on next.
  • Here, you will have the option to export a copy of the content in your Google Account to back it up. Along with that, there is also an option to use the backup with a service outside of Google.
  • Google even allows you to choose the file type, frequency, and destination as well.
