Facebook messenger is now end to end encrypted

October 5, 2016 by Satyapriya

Facebook Messenger, the messaging application from the social networking giant is now end to end encrypted after the recent release of its new update rolling on the android devices.

With this new feature in Facebook messenger, all your messages you wish will be now end to end encrypted which means they will not be accessible or read by the any other third party.

You can chat secretly with your friends and family which will stay secret and will never be and cannot be seen by any other third person.

But this secret chats feature in Messenger still have some limitations and one needs to know some points about it first which I am going to tell you here

  • We have manually enable the end to end encryption feature for every conversation that wish to be encrypted.
  • The other person with whom you wish to start this secret chat should also have the latest updated version of the application downloaded in their device.
  • This encryption is not available for group chats.
  • We can only access secret conversations from the device we started them.
  • Secret conversation doesn’t support sending videos, GIFs.

If you wish to switch to this end to end encrypted chat with your friend, you just need to tap on the new conversation button and then tap on secret and then add the person you wish to start the secret chat with.  Or you can just toggle the switch on the top right corner of your screen before selecting a contact.

If you wish to enable secret conversation for an ongoing chat in your Facebook Messenger just click on that conversation and then click on secret conversation to enable it.

June 1, 2016 by computerera

Facebook messenger users- be ready to make a choice, you may have an additional privacy in sending messages through Facebook messenger app.

facebook-messenger2

The social network Facebook might add a new end-to-end encryption feature in its messenger app. This is specially meant to block Facebook from reading users texts. These encryption measures would make messages sent through app even more secure. Its an optional encrypted mode, in order to enable users must opt for the same.

This encryption method is different from the encryption method implemented by the Facebook last month in its owned app WhatsApp which enabled end-to-end encryption by default.

The difference is that messenger encryption would be expense, for some of the newer artificial intelligence efforts by Facebook, including its bots. Messenger bots, in order to get replying better it will learn from users messages which should definitely save users messages in Facebook database servers. But here this article pointing out that fully end-to-end messages can be accessed only by the sender or receiver.

Based on the earlier reports by Facebook in the wake of the Apple vs. FBI, we can believe that Facebook is focusing into encryption of messages in messenger.

Not only Facebook, many other companies are focusing on security measures in their apps.

How Facebook Messenger Will Rule Your Life

May 25, 2016 by computerera

There is one and only one messaging application that can fulfil the needs of the average internet user and that is the Facebook Messenger. This application still stands as the one of the most used messaging application after WhatsApp. What factors drive this app to be the ruler of the chatting need? Let’s see.

With the shutdown of the Google’s most loved chatting app GTalk to force people to use the Hangouts app, Internet users found messenger from Facebook as the one of the potential application that not only allows allows people chat but also transfer files easily.

The addition of Facebook by then added the fuel to the messenger users which later became the second most priority of the Android users. The sad fact is that the Android users themselves stopped using the default hangouts app for chatting purposes.

If we take the consideration of Skype and Hangouts, the bandwidth they need to make the video calls is a grape fruit on the top creep. Particularly in a country like India, the problem of bandwidth is the first obstruction of internet growth. The best application later would be the IMO and some other infamous applications for video calling purpose.

Things changed and Facebook announced their own plugin to make calls (both audio and video). It solved the problem of bandwidth so that a person with 2G internet started making calls over IP.

One can even chat secretly on messenger with the disappearing messages that Facebook has introduced recently. These messages will be disappeared easily after the set time. The range of security has been extended with this feature.

There are some hidden games on messenger. The recent basket ball game was revealed by the Zuck in an event. keep using messenger for more such surprises.

Apart from the games and other features, you will be able to send money to your friends through messenger. Another useful feature is the personal QR code in the shape of the round riddle around our profile photo.

The group video calling feature really outsmarts the Hangouts video calling in terms of bandwidth. The anticipated features include checkout at POS, boarding planes and sending orders to buy products and services.

What else do you see in messenger? What else are you expecting it to bring? Share your thoughts too!

Now you can send SMS through Facebook Messenger

May 1, 2016 by computerera

sms

Facebook is adding more and more features to its Messenger platform. Earlier Facebook treated Messenger as only a chat companion, which allows personal communication in between Facebook friends.

In those days, I didn’t have any advantage with the Facebook messenger because I am not interested in making chat conversations. That’s why I didn’t install Facebook Messenger and sometimes used “Facebook Chat Enabler” application, to enable chat without the Facebook messenger.

Now things changed a lot and myself, I convinced by Facebook messenger benefits. Facebook is trying to push innovative features to its messenger platform. Every other day I come across Facebook plans to introduce new functionality to the Messenger application.

Today Facebook is slowly rolling out regular SMS and voice call support to the messenger users. If your account got this feature, you need to set the messenger application as the default of SMS client. Now on words, you can send regular SMS through Facebook messenger without any additional SMS charges.

It may take a few days to a few months to get this feature in India. So just be patient.
