October 5, 2017 by Satyapriya

Facebook has recently taken a few steps that help in connecting the blood donors to those who are in need of blood and also with the hospitals that are near them. From the mobile version of the Facebook application, users can simply sign up to be a blood donor.

On the occasion of the National Blood Donor Day, the company has taken this initiative that helps the users in finding the nearby blood requests. Technology actually has a lot of uses and it is even more useful when we try to implement it in addressing different social issues.

Blood donation is a great concept that lacks proper publicity and there should be a proper mechanism that helps in bringing awareness among the public and encourage them towards blood donation.

If you have a Facebook account, you can sign up as a blood donor in FB using a few very simple steps. When you see the option ‘people near you need blood donors’, just click on start helping now and then it will ask you for some information like your blood group and whether you donated earlier or not. Provide it the required information and you can share your status, which gives an encouragement for your friends and family and they may get motivated towards becoming a donor too. That is it you are done with signing up.

It will show you whenever someone near you is in need of blood and you can contact them over a phone call or a message or WhatsApp right from there.

This initiative must be applauded.
