Now you can’t open Facebook Messages in Mobile Browsers

July 28, 2016 by computerera

Facebook Messages

Once again proved that Facebook pushes harsh decisions on its users. A couple of years back it decided to insist users use Facebook Messenger. So rudely it stopped displaying personal messages in the main Facebook application and forced us to download Facebook Messenger to chat with our friends.

The same thing is again happening to those who access Facebook through mobile browsers. Now if you are using Facebook on mobile browser like Google Chrome, Opera Mini, etc., you can’t access messages as you did earlier. Instead, Facebook displaying “Your conversations are moving to Messenger” message on the screen, and placed Facebook Messenger download link.

Beginning from June the same message is showing, but it just hinted the upcoming change. Today Facebook completely blocked access to the message on the Facebook mobile site.

Reasons behind the decision are clear. Facebook wanted to make the Messenger platform more powerful. It already started Bot support for Messenger and integrating various services into the messaging platform. The company has innovative plans to do more business through the Messenger app. So to take advantage of that, first, it has to force users to use Messenger for their personal conversations. That’s what Facebook is doing right now.

You may Miss important Facebook Posts with the latest change

July 1, 2016 by computerera

facebook-change

You may Miss important Facebook Posts with the latest change. Time to time Facebook tweaks its news feed algorithm to serve better stories to everyone through the news feed. A couple of days back Facebook changed the news feed algorithm again.

With the latest change, Facebook serves more stories from your Friends and Family members while scrolling through the News Feed. It sets low priority for the people whom you follow for the updates like me.

Why this change?

Facebook placed a threshold on the number of posts that can be visible to every individual on a daily basis. As per the threshold, Facebook shows only a maximum of 1500 posts per day to an average Facebook user. Keeping this in mind, Facebook tweaks the news feed algorithm time to time to serve more quality and desired posts to every Facebook user.

There may be a lot of sources that populate posting to your Facebook news feed such as posts from your friends, family members, people you follow, apps and games your friends installed, etc. But it is the responsibility of the Facebook to strip away all unimportant content and displays quality content to you while browsing the news feed.

What about people you follow?

Now with the latest Facebook tweak, posts from your friends and family members will be prioritized. You may miss important content from the people you follow. For example, 46000 followers of my FB account expect new updates from me whenever they open Facebook. I even posted an update, and there may be little chance to get it in your news feed with the latest change.

So you have a fantastic option to overcome this problem, open my profile and at the “following” button, select “Set First” to never miss my updates. Like this, you can get all the important updates from all the people you follow along with your Family and Friends.

You already had the option to hide selected post from your Facebook timeline if you were not happy with that.

Today Facebook introduced another interesting option which can be helpful to hide posts from your Facebook Timeline even they appear in your friend’s news feed.

Sometimes we wish to post certain sensitive information which we don’t want to store it on Facebook timeline permanently. In such a situations, already there is an option to hide any post from your timeline. But the latest feature makes it easier to hide newer content right from the “status update” screen.

At present News-Feed only posting can be possible through Facebook for web only, the same feature will be rolled out to the mobile users who are using Android and iOS clients later.

And another thing we have to keep in mind is that the new feature will only be available for new Status updates. If you are planning to share any existing content from the news feed, the shared content will be placed on your Timeline.

At present, the News-Feed only feature has to be rolled out to the global users. It will take few hours to a couple of days for you to get this feature.
