Unsubscribing mailing lists and junk newsletters in Gmail

We may find many unwanted and useless emails in our inboxes every day and all we do with them is simply move them to trash without even opening them or trying to open them. As we are very much not interested in them at all. If that is the case, why don’t we just unsubscribe to such emails and avoid those in our inbox, yes we can by following the simple steps.

The causes may be many that the junk emails reach our inbox, but here are the steps you need to follow to get rid of those from your mail box

  • First, you need to copy Gmail unsubscriber sheet  to your Google drive by clicking the link and then signing in using your Gmail account
  • Now in the Google Sheet, go to the Gmail menu and choose to configure. Allow it to access your account.
  • Now in the inbox box, enter a label name in your inbox to unsubscribe all the emails under that label and then save changes

You can thus apply the label to unwanted mailing lists on the Google mail website, Android mail app, iOS app, any third party applications like Microsoft Outlook. Unsubscribe unwanted mailing lists and keep your inbox clean.

Finding the date of creation of your Google account

Have you ever wanted to know about the date of creation of your Google account? If so, have you ever thought of the procedure? If you ever want to restore your account in the future, then Google will ask some questions and one of them will be the date of creation of your Gmail.

So, it is very important to make a note of Google account creation.

The simple and easy way to know the account creation date is just checking out the date in your welcome message from Google. You can find the message in your inbox. But in case if you have deleted this mail, then don’t worry here are some steps you can follow in order to find your account creation date.

  • Open your Gmail account settings

Then go to the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab and there under the POP download option, you can see the date in the format of mm/dd/yy which your account creation date.

In the above screenshot, you can observe the highlighted area, where you can see the date is the creation date of my Gmail account. In the same way, you can also keep a note of the creation date of your account.

Track the emails you sent using Gmail

Tracking the sent messages have become the most popular feature in many of the messaging platforms and how would it be if this feature also exist for emails. Yes, it actually does, but not as an inbuilt feature in Gmail, but it is available as an extension in the chrome web store. And that extension is called the Mailtrack.

After you add the extension and installed it, it will ask for quite a few permissions just allow them.

From then it will show you tick marks for the emails that had been delivered and tricks with colour for the emails that have been read.

Thus using this simple browser extension one can easily track emails and their delivery status like they do for the messages in WhatsApp and various other messaging platforms.

Mailtrack is thus one of the best extensions that can be used for tracking emails in Gmail.

How to UNDO the mail that you have sent in Gmail

Well, everyone might be very well aware of the UNDO feature in Windows. We find it and use it in Microsoft Word very regularly. But have you ever thought of having an undo option for the email messages that we have sent. Well it actually does. Gmail the king of mailing services which has replaced the word of mail with its very own name has this feature inbuilt in it and very few people know about it.

We can actually UNDO mail that we have sent in case we feel that’s not the proper messages or the proper person, in the Gmail service.

At times, we may feel bad about the sent mail and we may have sent the mail to a wrong person, in those situations we may always want to have a UNDO mail option which can be easily activated in your account by following the simple steps below

  • First login into your Gmail account and click on the settings option which will usually be available at the top right of the window.
  • Under settings got to general and then you may find the option UNDO mail and then go and enable it
  • You can even have the option of setting the time to UNDO for 5, 10, 20, 30 seconds, set the time you desire to have. I suggest you to select 30 seconds which will be sufficient in times.
  • Now save the changes
  • Now try sending an email and send it
  • Immediately after sending the message, you can find the UNDO message option on the top of the window.
  • UNDO mail if you want to and will not be sent..

Gmail now warns you before clicking any bad link

Now you can feel safer while using Gmail. Suspicious links are circulating through phishing emails in the recent days.

Google took few more security steps to make Gmail safer for the users and introduced two new features which alert us before clicking bad links.

Gmail verify and authenticate senders by following various checks. Sender Policy Framework (SPF) is one of them. Gmail uses SPF to identify and record spam messages. Once Google found any unwanted mail from a suspicious sender, it will warn us by displaying a question mark symbol as the profile photo of the originator.
The second feature Google introduced in Gmail is while accessing the Gmail from a web browser if Google found any risky links in the emails you receive, immediately it displays a warning message. You will get “Warning – visiting this web site may harm your computer!” message on the screen. The warning will show in full page.

In recent days people frequently facing trouble with spam and phishing links. Sometimes they are becoming victims of financial frauds and ransomware attacks. In this context, the latest measures taken by Google will protect the users to a maximum extent.
