August 19, 2016 by computerera

Google Duo beats Pokemon GO

Google Duo became the most popular application on Google Play Store within a short period. Last month Pokemon Go created records in total downloads, but now Google Duo crossed those records as per the latest statistics.

Google lists the Top Free apps based on the total number of downloads on Google Play Store. Google Duo achieved the top place in the chart by throwing Messenger and Pokemon Go to the later positions.

Google Duo gained sudden attention, people, who are waiting for the Whatsapp video calling feature are attracted to the app.

If we observe, Google Duo got more positive feedback compared to other top applications on the list with a 4.5 average rating. It clearly shows how people are satisfied with the one-to-one video calling application.

Everything is positive for a new application in the initial days. But what extent, Google Duo succeeds in the segment purely depends on the Duo adoption rate of the users. People have to convince before making any app as the primary choice for their daily use.

Google Play Family Library coming today

July 28, 2016 by computerera

Google Play Family Library

A few days back I already wrote that Google is planning to roll out Google Play Family Library feature which helps to share purchased apps and games among family members.

The wait of over. Google today started rolling out the new feature to the users in various regions. Today or tomorrow you can observe the change in Google Play Settings.

By using Family Library feature, once you purchased any paid app or game on Google Play Store you can share it to a maximum of six family members including yourself. It avoids the need of buying the same app multiple times in family environment. The feature applies to Google Play Apps, Games, movies, and books.

First, you have to list your family members in your group. Now onwards you will be treated as the family head named as “Family Manager”. You are only allowed to purchase from the Play Store. Family members aged between 13-17 years need to take approval from the Family Manager to make purchases. And the family members above 18 need to take approval for in-app purchases only. If the family member has their own credit card, they can buy directly without taking approval from the family head.

Apps and games purchased since 2nd July 2016 will be available in the Family Library feature by default. As with your previous Google Play purchases, those app developers has to opt-in to allow them on the new feature.
