Top 5 Ransomware Attacked Countries Includes India

June 5, 2016 by computerera

India was listed on the top 5 countries that are being attacked by the ransomware hacking software that blackmails the users to pay to get the data decrypted. If you have watched this video posted on this site, you would have understood what these black mailing apps would be like.

Ransomware is a malicious piece of software that take control of your data on the device and demands for money to get it decrypted (with the key that they will have with them). It is a great obstacle for the countries that are digitalising like India to get through these attacks. The main problem is the users are not that much educated technically but yet uses the technology effectively.

The smartphones are not exempted from the ransomware attacks. Apps masquerading the security apps have attacked the android phones silently. If you have seen the Q1 of the 2016, the hacking attacks have been increased up to 14% which shows the negligence of the people over the online digital security.

The intensity of the security risks like these have a profound influence of the versions of the software that are being used. Old software is more vulnerable to hacking compared to the latest one. If you are still hanging out with the old software on your computer, upgrade to the latest software today itself.

According to the reports of the Kaspersky security labs, more than 11,000 users were attacked and looted mercilessly. Most of them are exploited by the locky app that locked down the data from their devices and demanded for money. It attacked the Windows operating system back in February in this 2016.

Keep your software updated, never enter the unsafe security zone, never let your computer or smartphone install uncertified apps. Moreover, stay conscious while using technology. Because the consequences might be fatal.

“The National Cyber Security Policy is released for public use and implementation by relevant stakeholders. The objective of the policy is to create a framework for comprehensive, collaborative and collective response to deal with the issue of cyber security at all levels within the country,” he said.

Here in India, the vast majority of the cyber crimes will not be reported to any Govt. Agency. Myself, I don’t know where to report on cyber attacks, so we have to consider above statistics as the formality Govt., providing to the general public.

Govt. Should bring full awareness of cyber security and other precautions across the India, people using technology without having sufficient security knowledge. Govt. has to focus on that. Otherwise, unreported cyber crimes will increase at a faster pace.
