There will be no captchas in the future

May 9, 2017 by Satyapriya

A captcha is a computer program or system intended to distinguish humans from computer machine input. It is used as a way of thwarting spam and automatic data extraction from various websites on the web.

We all may be very much familiar with this thing as we encounter with this on the internet while we try to open a website, or while we enter the bank’s payment gateway for payment of the online shopping. The websites state that it is the process that they follow in order to find whether you are a human or machine.

Captchas are something where you are told to reenter the numbers from the confused or blur picture and also selecting the same type of pictures from the in ones.

We may accept it or not, it will be an inconvenience for the internet users, this inconvenience is going to end soon. This process is going to be completely taken out of the web soon. Instead of this thing a new technology is going to be introduced where it can be able to guess whether the computer operating person is a  human or a machine with the help of just a simple click on the submit button. With the invention of this new technology, the old way of entering captchas is going to disappear in the future making it convenient for the users.

One-year Validity Data recharges are approved

August 20, 2016 by computerera

One-year validity

Now onwards you can recharge internet data pack with One-year validity. Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) approved the proposal in a move to provide better data services to the consumers. A few months back, I already reported this.

Till now the maximum validity we are getting is only 90 days. But on an average Telecom companies like Airtel, Idea, Vodafone is offering most of their 1 GB and 2 GB mobile data pack with 25 to 28 days validity.

With the limited time validity consumers are suffering a lot, they have to recharge frequently even unused data is remaining in their existing data pack. If we forgot to renew the mobile data before the due date, all the remaining data would become useless.

The latest decision by TRAI is a great relief for the mobile consumers. TRAI made an amendment to the Telecom Consumers Protection Regulations in this regard. As per the amendment, Telecom companies can offer exclusive data packs with 365 days validity, or they can mix up with other benefits in the form of an STV (Special Tariff Voucher).

But what extent phone companies adopt is the latest change is doubtful. Because frequent mobile data recharges is the primary income source for the companies. If they offer One-year Validity Data recharges it indirectly affects their business. Even though, few companies may offer such plans for high prices.

Facebook Express WiFi internet services

August 9, 2016 by computerera

Facebook Express WiFi

After Free Basics failure Facebook now came with Facebook Express WiFi service in India. But this time, it is paid service primarily intended for rural areas.

In Express WiFi initiative Facebook buys bandwidth from the local ISPs like BSNL, Airtel, etc. and provide the same bandwidth to the remote users who don’t have internet facility for an affordable price.

For this Facebook developed software for local ISPs to sell the bandwidth, and the company creates WiFi hotspots in rural India and associate the purchased bandwidth to those hot spots. Already Facebook has created 125 WiFi hotspots in rural India with the help of BSNL in a trial run.

Unlike Free Basics, the “Express WiFi” service provides unrestricted access to websites and applications. You might be familiar with the Free Basic program which Govt. of India banned in India earlier this year. People and Govt. thought that the Free Basics disturbs Net Neutrality in India, so many agitations took place at that time.

At present 462 million Indian has internet access and the internet Giants Facebook and Google tries to expand the web reach to more people in India with different programs. Google is already providing WiFi internet facility in few railway stations in India. Facebook has the plan to introduce internet access by using flying drones, and high-altitude balloons.
