Learn How To Disable Protected View In Microsoft Word

Protected view feature is the most well-secured feature incorporated inside Microsoft Word which helps in preventing from being attacked by any virus, malware that may be retained in the documents. This feature is specially made and designed keeping in mind the security of the device of the users and protecting their devices from virus and malware attacks. The protected view gets activated every time the users download the document. This feature just works fine and alike the normal mode, but if the users wish to enter edit mode, then just a few more clicks are required. This feature works just fine for all the users who bother about their security and safety, but for those people who feel annoyed to go through a few more extra steps for entering the edit mode while their document is in protected mode.

Stop worrying if you are also among the list of those people who don’t wish to go through those extra steps. Here is the simple process using which you can simply disable the protected mode in the Microsoft Word document.

Note: This process of disabling the protected view  in a Word document is explained as per the settings of the latest Word software, so settings may vary if you are using an older version of Word

Disabling Protected View

  • First, you need to open the software MS Word, then choose a blank page and create a new document
  • The new document, just click on the file menu and then on the left side bar, click ‘Options’ option at the bottom
  • Now the Options windows will be opened where you need to click on the Trust Center option from the left side bar of the window
  • Then a new window of the Trust Center will be opened where you need to click on the Protected View option from the left side bar, there you can find a few options regarding the protected mode of the Word
  • Uncheck all the options you see there which are related to the protected mode and then click ok which will disable the feature in the Word document

You can check all the boxes back if you ever wish to get back that feature enabled

Yes, you read it right. Just like browser extensions Microsoft word also supports add-ins that allows you to do as much as you can with your word document without even opening another application. The add-ins give you quick access to various actions and references.

If you have office 2016 installed on your PC, then you can get a lot out of your Microsoft Word which lets you get a lot of your work done easily and instantly. So here I am giving you a selected list of add-ins that you must have.

Finding, Installing and opening add-ins:

When you open the word document in the Microsoft Office Suite 2016 that you have in your Windows PC, you can find Insert Tab, click on that tab and you will find Store, click it, then you will be taken to The Office add-ins store where you can browse various add-ins which are categorized into a number of categories, select the particular add-in that you would like to have and then click on trust it and that’s it you are done.

And if you use a lesser version in Office suite then there is yet another way to install the add-ins where you can visit the office store online website and there you can search for the add-ins and then you will find get it button there to install the add-ins.

Consistency Checker:

Word has in it a built in spell checker, while this add will allow you to scan your document for hyphenation, number in sentences, variations in spellings, abbreviations and many others. Once you scan the document, the add-in will show you any errors in the document.

Picket Presentation Images:

Sometimes you need to insert some pictures in your word document. At That time we usually search the images from the web and get them inserted over here in the word document. But it will be a cumbersome process. This add-in absolutely makes the process so easy by allowing you to search for the images within the word document. You can search the images by selecting the required word and then clicking on the add-in.

Office QR:

You can create a QR code for your website address or contact right from the word document and then insert in it. By using the default editing features of Word you can adjust the size and location of the code.

Translator:

This add-in is powered by Microsoft Translator and is extremely easy to use. By selecting the text and clicking in the add-in will open the add-in window and will allow you translate the text into any particular language you want and then you can insert the text in the document.

Handy Calculator:

What would be more convenient than having a calculator within a word document. It provides you with the most basic features of a calculator and lets you do all you need with a calculator without having to leave the word document.

Dictionary-Merriam Webster:

You are reading a document where you find  a word a bit difficult to understand and then you need to open the dictionary app on your computer or either check from your personal dictionary. But that’s not now when you have this add-in with you installed as it allows you to get the meaning of the words within the word document.

Abbreviations.com:

This add-in can be so very helpful while you are reading word documents. Just select the word that you would like to know that abbreviation for and then click on the add-in and it will show the abbreviation for you. It also shows the genre of the abbreviation that it falls.
