Facebook new News Feed criteria – Now your Posts may not serve to your Friends

April 22, 2016 by computerera

facebook

People post hundreds of text posts, photos, videos, etc., on their Facebook timelines. Facebook display “few” of those posts in your news feed. Why few only? Because on an average Facebook displays maximum 1500 stories only from all of your friends.

FB follows a number of factors while deciding which posts to display on your news feed and which one to avoid. Time to time Facebook learns user engagement patterns and implement the new criteria to serve selected content to the news feed.

Earlier Facebook tracked the posts we like, comment and filled up more posts from the same person with whom we engaged more by liking and commenting.

Today Facebook changed this criteria. Sometimes people like posts on various reasons. FB realized like and comments don’t reflect user’s interest on those posts. So finally changed it News feed algorithm.

Latest parameter is Time spent on posts. Now onwards you are going to see more posts from the person on which you spent more time earlier.

For example, if you loved to read my (Nallamothu Sridhar) entire article by spending your time, it indirectly indicates you are willing to see more content from me. So Facebook calculates the time you spend on my posts and serves my new posts without fail in your news feed.

In my opinion, this is the perfect parameter to evaluate user engagement while displays posts on the news feed. Anybody who spends hours of valuable time on Facebook wants to get quality content which they love. This new Facebook News feed algorithm fulfills this basic need.
