Does 1 Gbps really help you? Reliance Jio FTTH 1 Gbps

September 5, 2016 by computerera

Reliance Jio FTTH 1 Gbps

We want more – this is the consumer psychology. It might be product, service or technology, people demand more. People are feeling crazy after hearing about the 1 Gbps Reliance Jio FTTH (Fiber to the Home) broadband connections. But practically how far the speed helps us is in question. Here are few important aspects.

Server speed limits

I’m using 100 Mbps Act Fibernet connection since three years. Rarely I touched the 100 Mbps download mark when I download files from the internet. The ISP is providing the complete speed, but there a practical limitation from the web servers side.

For example assume, http://computerera.co.in as the site that offers file downloads. As per computerera.co.in site server limitation, it can offer a maximum of 20 Mbps transfer rate at any given time. So even though you have 1 Gbps connection or 100 Mbps connection it doesn’t help with computerera.co.in. You have to wait longer to complete the download.

Indirectly you are equivalent to those who use 20 Mbps connection while downloading from the computerera.co.in website. Except for torrents which have a good amount of peers & heath, regular file download sites on the internet certainly have “per connection server transfer rate” limitation. You can’t achieve more speed than they offer.

Few paid file hosting sites offer up to 100 Mbps, but then also you need to initiate multiple files to for download, for single files the maximum speed you achieve is not more than 50 Mbps. So 1 Gbps is practically no use for file downloads.

While downloading full-length movies from Youtube, you can get maximum speeds.

Hardware limitations

Once you got 1 Gbps Reliance Jio FTTH connection, you may try the speed on your desktop, laptop, or smartphone. All these three devices might not provide 1 Gbps speed.

Because most of the onboard LAN cards on both desktops & laptops are limited to maximum 100 Mbps interface. Even you connected 1Gbps line to the LAN port, it only offers maximum 100 Mbps. Similarly, smartphones also offer below 100 Mbps speed right now.

To get 1 Gbps speed, you must purchase PCI Express LAN cards separately.

Who can benefit?

If you have office environment with employees, you can backbone it with 1 Gbps connection to accomplish tasks fast. For an individual user 1 Gbps is far more than enough, but for small, middle range offices, corporates 1 Gbps create miracles.

Reliance Jio SIM on 3G phone

If you are struggling to use the Reliance Jio SIM on your 3G phone, this article helps you a lot. Please share the article with your friends also.

Reliance Jio is a 4G only service & to use it you must have a 4G supported smartphone with you. But those who are having 3G phones need not to disappointed. Follow this guide.

Requirements for Reliance Jio SIM on 3G phone

First, you have to obtain a Free Reliance Jio SIM through any previous methods I explained in our website.

Your phone must run Qualcomm Snapdragon or Mediatek chipset. Almost 99% of the smartphones equipped with any one of the chipsets. So You need to identify the chipset of your phone first by below technique. Before proceeding place the activated Reliance Jio 4G SIM in your 3G phone.

How to find Chipset of your Android phone?

Download the CPU-Z app from the Google Play Store. Open it after the installation finishes, and it presents you all the hardware information of your device including the model of your chipset. Follow the below steps depending on the chipset your phone belongs.

For Qualcomm Chipsets using Jio SIM on 3G phone

Download the Shortcut Master (Lite) application from the Google Play Store. Once the installation finished, open the app and select Service Menu or Engineering Mode option from the main Menu. Now again select “System App” option if available there on your phone model. Finally, you need to change LTE bands here.

If you are not able to find System App option, Dial *#2263# from the dialer, once the screen appears, go to Menu just tap “Back” option. Now again open Menu, this time, tap on “Key Input” option and enter 0000 as the value data for the option.

Once you entered 0000 a few seconds later, one popup will appear on the screen, Select “UE Settlings” option from the popup menu & select “Setting>protocol>NAS>Network Control>Band Selection>LTE Band. Now select the Band 40 from the available LTE bands. Now you can check signal & restart your 3G phone. It will work fine now.

For Mediatek Chipsets using Jio SIM on 3G phone

Download MTK Engineering Mode application from the Google Play Store on your 3G phone. Once the app installed, open it and dial your phone specific Engineering mode code to open engineering code. The code changes from phone to phone. So find out the correct code for your phone model.

Once the Service mode opens, in the MTK Settings, you need to configure Preferred network option. Select 45 LTE/WCDMA/GSM from the settings as the network mode option. Once selection finished restart your phone. Now your Jio 4G SIM smoothly works on your 3G mobile.

How to Port to Reliance Jio from Airtel, Idea, others?

September 4, 2016 by computerera

How to Port to Reliance Jio

Reliance Jio is creating more buzz in the industry with its innovative plans. I already explained how to get Reliance Jio new SIM, but for those who are using their existing phone number since years are finding ways to port the number from Airtel, Idea, Vodafone, Aircel to Reliance Jio. If you are one among them, follow this guide.

How to port to Reliance Jio?

First, you need to send the PORT request to TRAI by sending the following SMS.

PORT <Your ten-digit existing phone number>

and send the message to 1900

Now download the MyJio application from Google Play Store and generate the offer code as I already explained earlier here.

Now you have a unique PORT request and Reliance offer barcode with you. Just carry Aadhaar card or other photo ID proof along with one passport size photo to your nearest Reliance Digital or Reliance Digital Express stores.

After validating your PORT request & offer code, they will issue a new Reliance Jio SIM immediately. Once the activation completed finish tele-verification by following this guide.

This porting procedure can benefit professionals who are maintaining the same number for years. Airtel and other telecom companies are making planned moves to keep their existing user base with them. So if you are happy with the current network operator, then you can continue for now.
