Firefox will stops working on Windows XP and Vista in 2017

December 25, 2016 by computerera

The second popular web browser Firefox is planning to stop support for Windows XP and Vista from September 2017.

The company has a plan to migrate the Windows XP and Vista users to Extended support Release in the month of March 2017 and later in September 2017 it will stop providing security updates to the old operating systems.

Even though anybody can use Firefox on their old operating systems, but they can’t get important security updates. Nowadays web attacks are major issue for the online users.

Without any security updates life becomes hell in the internet world. So it’s better to upgrade to the newer Windows versions such as Windows 10 to get important security patches and support for all the needed software including browsers like Google Chrome and Firefox.

Still there are a limited set of users for a decade old Windows XP operating system. This is the time to move on to new technologies. Already all other popular web browsers stopped supporting Windows XP and Vista. Firefox is only single browser that is providing support to the XP.

Goodbye Cyanogen, it’s shutting down

December 24, 2016 by computerera

We all are familiar with the popular Cyanogen operating system which is available with devices like One Plus, Micromax etc., The sad news is Cyanogen is shutting down by the end of this month.

Earlier the operating system seems most promising with regular updates. A couple of years back Cyanogen CEO expressed that the company is going to dominant original Android operating system developed by Google.

Cyanogen is a open source platform and a huge number of developers became the part of the project since a long time. Cyanogen is offering the open source project and the entire source code for those who are willing to develop custom builds.

Most of the Android smartphone users can’t digest the news because Cyanogen managed to provide the latest Android updates to almost all the popular  devices available in the market prior to OEM official updates. People regularly search for Cyanogen ROM for their devices.

They failed to fight against Google in terms of market leadership. Even though it sounds impossible to compete with Google,  Cyanogen company showed courage to fight against Google. We have to appreciate all the great services and support provided by Cyanogen till now.

Google Drive introduced Annual plans

December 22, 2016 by computerera

Google Drive Annual Plans

Cloud Storage services like Google Drive and Dropbox playing a crucial role to store personal and confidential files securely online. Google Drive has large user base because it is associated with Google ID. Google Drive offers lifetime 15 GB Free Storage which can calculated against various Google services like Gmail, Google Photos, Google+, etc.

If you want to use more storage Google Drive has different paid plans. Until now there are no annual paid plans, but today Google Drive came up with annual plans for first two basic packages.

For those who subscribed for 100 GB storage by paying $ 1.99, now you can get a one-year subscription just for $ 19.99 only. That means you can save up to 6 percent of the total bill if you are willing to pay a one-time annual fee.

The second annual plan is 1 TB. At present it costs $ 9.99 per month, by subscribing to the annual plan we can get it for $ 99.99 i.e. we can save $ 19.89 on the annual subscription.

Right now, the other higher plans such as 10 TB, 20 TB, and 30 TB have only monthly subscriptions. Personally, I’m on 1 TB monthly plan by paying $ 9.99 per month since one and half years. Now I’m planning to switch to the annual plan.
