Good news for those who wish to get more facility to their favorite e-wallets like Paytm etc., you can book train tickets through Paytm soon. Indian Railways is partnering with e-wallets players such as Airtel Money, Paytm and Jio Money to offer train tickets to the masses across the country.

The move clearly indicates how extent the e-wallets are going to play a crucial role in the paperless financial transactions in the coming future.

Indian Railways will gain additional income for each ticket the e-wallet player book in the form of commission. Now all these players are providing taxi, bus, movie ticket booking services to the customers. If Indian Railways finalizes the proposals we can book unreserved train tickets also through the platform.

There are lot of malpractices happening in train ticket bookings through travel agents. Once the booking facility is available on mobile wallets, the companies must take proper measures to prevent fraud and offer smooth ticket booking experience to the end users.

October 31, 2016 by computerera

WiGig

A new technology called WiGig that provides higher WiFi speeds is coming soon for the smartphones and laptops. Till now even the WiFi signal is strong, and we are near to the wireless router we are getting a limited amount of bandwidth through the WiFi chips embedded in our smartphones and laptops.

With the latest WiGig technology, we can get the double speed of the data compared to what we are getting right now. Wi-Fi Alliance started certifying various gadgets like smartphones, wireless routers, laptops and other gadgets which support the latest WiGig standard.

Everything seems great, but there is a significant limitation with the WiGig technology. it can provide higher speeds only up to 10 meters distance from the WiFi router. That means you must be in the same room where WiFi router is located to get higher speeds.

Even though the range is the major drawback for the latest WiFi technology, it will be more comfortable for those who have higher bandwidth requirement for 4K video streaming and VR content. The devices which support WiGig comes with 802.11ad standard. If you find the term on any wireless device, that means it supports the latest WiGig technology.

National Defense Fund site is buggy – Noble purpose with poor execution

October 7, 2016 by computerera

National Defense Fund is an innovative concept. Donate Rs. 1 per day for the Indian Army – This is the noble quotation circulating on the internet. Personally, I also managed to accumulate few donations for the Indian Army. Everything is great but the website Govt. is maintaining to collect the donations has a lot of bugs.

Because of the above reason I failed to convince a few people to donate to the Army who feared more about security warning messages appeared on the National Defense Fund website.

No proper SSL certificate

Every website which runs on https protocol must have a valid SSL certificate to provide trust to the users visiting that site. Even though Govt. of India manages the https://ndf.gov.in site, it lacks a valid SSL certificate.

Why National Defense Fund website lacks SSL certificate?

Every https based site must get SSL certificate from the certificate issuing authorities like VeriSign, Google, etc. to offer SSL encryption and authentication to the user data, and They have to pay Rs. 10,000 to 1 Lakh per year to get the certificate.

For example, if the ndf.gov.in site got SSL certificate by paying Rs. 1,00,000 for the period of 2015-2016 it must renew it again by paying the same amount to the VeriSign or Google for 2016-2017. Otherwise, the security certificate will be expired and the web browsers like Google Chrome, Firefox starts showing “Your connection is not secured” errors.

National Defense Fund

Immediately after seeing those errors people think the site is not secured or it is fake. Indirectly it affects the trust on the website and government. Earlier I noticed the same issue with APSRTC Official site. They didn’t apply for SSL certificate even though they implemented https protocol on their site.

Whatever the issue, as an end user you no need not worry about your security. The site is 100% Genuine; you can proceed by clicking “Advanced” button and select “Add Exception.”

Donate Rs. 1 per day for the Indian Army

The National Defense Fund website also lacks Credit Card and debit card payment options.

But I personally liked the concept and donated a few bucks for the noble cause. So don’t hesitate to donate for the Indian Army Welfare.
