112 India’s common Emergency Number from 1st Jan 2017

May 8, 2016 by computerera

india 912 emergency

Starting from 1st January 2017 just a single number is sufficient for all the emergency needs. i.e. 112. Ravi Shankar Prasad, Central Telecom Minster has approved the proposal of maintaining a single toll-free number for emergencies. We can treat it as the US’s emergency number 911.

Right now, in India, we have to dial 100 to get help from the police, 101 for the Fire Department support and 108 for Ambulance. Remembering various emergency numbers is a tough task for the illiterates.

Once 112 commenced, anybody can benefit from it even though their SIM card was blocked or outgoing facility has been suspended. When you called the 112 number, it will redirect you to the concerned department to get help.

After the 112 number came into action, all the existing emergency numbers will be stopped in coming one year period. During this migration period, cellphone operators have to redirect 100, 101, 102, 108 calls to the newly created 112 number.

Not only the new emergency number, but IT & Telecom ministry is also making it mandatory to equip built-in GPS system for all the phones in India from 1st Jan 2018. The measures that were taken by the Govt. of India definitely will help people in emergency situations.

BSNL Offering 20GB 3G data offer for Rs.50 is Fake

April 25, 2016 by computerera

The last weeks trending news on social media about BSNL offering 20GB 3G data for Rs.50 is a fake news and has been propagated by the netizens unknowingly. The BSNL Delhi officials has given a clarification about this news and says that the company is not offering any such 20GB 3G data for Rs.50 plan nor it is intended to.

If you had keen observing the trends on the internet and social media, you would have observed the BSNL offer news trending in the top trends on Facebook, twitter and other social media websites as well. Some news websites updated this news which lead people to wrong assumptions.

However, this news shocked the competitors who are already trying to recover the BSNL’s night free calls plan. If this would have been the original news, the tariff costs from the competitors would also have come down.

This declaration that the news is a hoax disappoints the BSNL users and wannabe customers of BSNL all over the country. They should look for some other considerations now.

What made people believe in BSNL offering 20GB 3G data for Rs.50?

Offering 20GB 3G for just 50 INR is a competitor killing strategy but also the own. ISPs are charging Rs.500 and plus for the data of that range. Besides all this, BSNL has a bad reputation in many parts of the country for its quality of service and support. The introduction of night free land line calls was a stunt to grab new customers and hold the new ones by not letting them go.

At this moment of Reliance launching 4G Jio SIM cards at cheaper rates, the chances of survival for this government company could be questionable in some areas of the country. So, people thought this offering of  20GB could be real and didn’t thought it could be fake.

What do you think? Did the BSNL 20GB news excite you? Share your thoughts about it in comments.
