How to Extend C Drive size in Windows Computer/Laptop?

October 10, 2016 by computerera

Running out the storage space is a major issue for any Windows desktop user. People create partitions with only 30-50 GB while installing Windows but later once we started to use more software the available free space is not sufficient.

So here I am going to explain how to resize the active primary partition on any computer or laptop. (the partition on which we installed Windows, usually it is C drive)

How to Extend C Drive in Windows Computer?

Windows operating system itself comes with a disk management tool named “Disk Management”. You can invoke it by typing “diskmgmt.msc” command in Start>Run dialog box. But the tool has limited flexibility to resize the disk partitions.

You need to use third-party software is to achieve more advanced functions on disk partitions. MiniTool Partition Wizard is one of the powerful disk partition application available on the internet. It provides all the required functions in the Free Home version. You can download MiniTool Partition Wizard from here.

Find some unallocated space to extend the partition

How to Extend C Drive size in Windows

It is safe to have one unallocated partition available next to the C drive on your hard disk. For example assume that, you have 220 GB C Drive and 500 GB D drive partition. If you are not using D drive to the full extent, first right click on the D drive in MiniTool Partition Wizard application and decrease the partition size. Once the command executed, now the freed up space will be available as unallocated space.

Extend C Drive by adding unallocated partition

How to Extend C Drive

Now you might have 100 or 200 GB very next to the C Drive. So now right click on the C drive in the MiniTool Partition Wizard application and select the “Extend” option and in the next screen move the slider to the right side to extend the partition and finally click OK.

Once you commit the changes by restarting your Windows computer, the partition size of the C drive will be increased.

Warning: You need have proper understanding the partition structure to avoid data loss. We are not responsible if you mistakenly removed any partition while resizing and extending the partition.

Windows 10 Update eats 20 GB – How to recover it?

August 18, 2016 by computerera

Earlier this month, Microsoft rolled out Windows Anniversary Update for those who are using Windows 10 on their desktops and laptops. It is the free upgrade offered by the company. If you are one of those who utilized it, you might find a reduced disk space after the update.

Windows 10 Anniversary Update adds various features like sync between phone and PC, Extensions support for Edge browser, Windows Ink, etc.

Everything is good, but the Anniversary update wastes approx. 20 GB of disk space on C drive after installation. It is common for any major upgrade because Windows keeps the previous version as the backup on the C drive. If the user wants to rollback to the previous version Windows restores the system from this backup.

For example, a small number of users reports SSD freezing problem after the latest update. Those people can roll out to the earlier build from the Settings menu. If everything is happy for you with the Anniversary update, then you can recover the wasted space in the C Drive by following the below steps.

1. Type “Disk Cleanup” in the Cortana search bar.

2. Select C drive in the next screen

3. Now on the Disk cleanup for C: window, press “Clean up system files” button.

4. Again select C drive and click Ok.

Windows anniversary update

5. In the next screen select “Previous Windows installation(s)” option and press OK

6. Press “Delete Files” in the next screen and finally click “Yes” in the confirmation box.

That’s it; now your C drive has 20 GB additional space than the before available space. For some people, Microsoft automatically deleted the Windows previous build through a recent small patch. If you are one among those, you can’t find any wasted space in system files, and your system is in perfect condition.

You need not have a serial number to activate Windows

August 14, 2016 by computerera

activate Windows

Up to the recent past, we must have a working product key to activate the Windows operating system once it installed on our computer. But things changed a lot.

Microsoft introduced “Digital Entitlement” concept with the Windows 10 operating system we are using right now. Very few people knew about the new feature. As a part of the new feature, Microsoft associates your Windows activation with your Microsoft account.

So now onwards whenever you are planning to fresh install the Windows 10 on the same desktop or laptop, it is sufficient to provide your Microsoft Account details to retrieve the activation you got earlier instead of the product key.

To get benefit from this new Digital Entitlement feature, first, you have to link your already activated Windows installation with your Microsoft account. For this, you must have to use Microsoft Account instead of Local account in your Windows User Account settings.

Follow the below steps to link your Windows 10 license with your Microsoft account.

1. Open Settings>Update and Security. Explore the “Activation” tab.

2. Here click on “Add a Microsoft account” option and enter your Microsoft Account credentials on the screen. You can create new Microsoft account if you don’t have one earlier.

That’s it, your existing desktop or laptop’s Windows license linked to your Microsoft Account and your system will automatically be got activated whenever you freshly install Windows on that particular system.

July 19, 2016 by computerera

Ever wanted an all-in-one music software that provides all musical features you need to satisfy the audiophile in you? Of course you have, and iMusic might have lots of benefits for you.

The music download software tools are programs that allow users to stream and download songs on the go, at a much faster, convenient and sorted way, by providing a wide range of features. Everyone agrees that downloading music is way better than purchasing CDs. You no longer have to wait for the CDs to come out while you listen to your favourite songs on the radio. Nowadays I can simply download my favourite track from the internet, just like I did on my desktop PC,  in a few seconds, without any hassle. If I really like one song, I will download it without having to buy the whole album.

Instead of going through a long search process through search engines, with a Music Downloader Software tool I am able to find any song I want and I can even choose the format: Mp3 or Mp4. Almost all Music Downloader Software Tools have a reputation for owning a large variety of songs and  music library collections, being classified according to genres, artists, popularity and playlists.

Users can install the most suitable software for their operating system. A good software  should be available for any type of operating system: Windows, Linux, Mac, iOS or Android.

iMusic is the best Music Downloader Software- an all-in-one tool for streaming, downloading or transferring music between Android phones/ iPhone/iPod/iPad and PC/Mac/iTunes.

This software is really compact, I was amazed by its impressive, minimalist and practical design.

It comes with several key features and I can download songs from more than 3000 reputed sources, or directly from the website, by entering the YouTube links.

Now I have the chance to manage my iTunes Library: create car or gym  playlists, burn music in iTunes library to CDs, backup and restore or cleanup and rebuild my personal playlists.

“Discover” feature

This is a fantastic option for finding out-of-copyright music, unknown tunes from emerging artists, new and old music, all classified by genre, playlists, artists and Toplists. If I click on the playlists selection, I will find Toplists, and enjoy a wide selection of genres: pop, rock, indie, chill, hip-hop, r&b, classical, reggae, jazz and many more.

There is also a Scene & Moods selection of music which is my favourite so far! This one is simply amazing! I can now explore music according to my mood: workout, focus, party,  dance, sleep, kids, romance, travel music.

Everyone can keep the songs they like with the help of “Record Music” feature. All they have to do is click on the “REC” button in the upper-right corner of the screen, and it will add the ID3 (song title, artist name, genre, year) tags automatically.

The music can be recorded from any music software or station, which makes it great to record both old and new music. It records only the high quality sound and not the sound from your speakers, so there’s no observable difference from a regular download.

” Transfer Music” feature

transfer

iMusic comes with a ” Transfer Music” feature that gives me the freedom to transfer songs/ playlists, iTunes, TV Shows or Podcasts to my iPhone, iPad, iPod or iTunes library for free, without any computer authority limitations at all, or erasing my existing data.

This feature makes things easier, especially if you always multitask, like I do:

– you can copy music to your library without generating duplicates, in the fastest and most convenient way;

-it allows you to back-up music from phone to PC or vice versa.

“Clean Up Music” feature

cleanup

Every audiophile might face difficulties with their music library, such as unplayable songs, or corrupted metadata and it’s preferable to have a special feature that deals with it.

I was really amazed by its “Clean Up Music” feature. It gives me the opportunity to clean up my dead/broken tracks from my music library. If I need to get rid of useless files I can easily choose the most suitable action: fix missing tracks, missing covers or duplicate tracks, add song metadata automatically.

Considering how advanced and versatile it is to use, I would definetely recommend iMusic as it also includes some other useful features: remove DRM protection, transfer music to a USB drive and burn selected playlists or songs to CDs.

The software is user friendly, easy to use, I can stream and download unlimited music online, providing total control over my downloaded songs.

I won’t be bothered by useless commercials anymore, because this software is completely free of any notification bar ads.

iMusic offers an attractive, compact,  and impressively-designed interface that is fluid to use.

Despite the fact that it is a paid software, it’s well worth the cost. This program is the only Music Downloader you should get if you are interested in discovering new and impressive artists, organize and manage your music collection, arrange the files in music library on your mobile devices/ PC or find any kind of music ranging from  pop and r&b to folk and jazz.

It really does everything most music enthusiasts need and is 100% clean, excluding any malware, spyware, adware or virus.
