What is New in Windows 8 Classroom Part 3 Nallamothu – How Modern Apps Works

Windows 8 introduced Modern Applications. Modern style apps are full screen apps tailored to your our needs, tailored to the device they run on (it may be desktop pc or mobile device), tailored for touch interaction, and tailored to the Windows user interface.

A Modern style app is an app built using HTML5 or XAML+(C#,VB or C++), on Microsoft’s new APIs – in short, it’s a an app-widget-kinda-thing. Note that this is cross-platform compatible (Windows 8 will support ARM with modern apps) and that standard x86 apps built the “old way” will still continue to work, but are not considered modern apps, nor are they cross-platform compatible. There is also an app store for modern apps.

As an end user we normally find it hard to understand usage of Windows 8 Modern applications. In this context I prepared this lesson for you. In this lesson I explained how to install modern apps, how they work, various options they provide while using them in real time etc.

Stay tuned for next Video in this series..
